EDITORIAL PORTRAIT SESSION AT ZURI HOTEL & EMERSON SPICE HOTEL, ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA

Setting sail where the surf’s always up, trailing across the ancient
Zanzibar Archipelago, diving off rocky shores and finding calm in the clear, still waters with spectacular views as far as the eye can see, well, that is what gave a whole new definition to the phrase “pure shores” in my mind. It’s not every day one gets to shoot a destination wedding in this paradise, let alone be with the one you love.
Arriving in
Zanzibar is one of those truly magical experiences you never forget. A boat slicing silently through shimmering strips of sea plankton, while warm salty air whips through your hair. A few moments later your soul starts filling with what the northern west shores of Unguja are famed for sheer Idylle.
Zuri and
Emerson are the calm, sandy jewels where guests wander barefoot and it takes just around ten minutes to jog gently to the shore. As the sun dives in the ocean, paths shine to the sea, marked out by the glow of lanterns, and hidden behind walls of lush greenery the sounds of the island reveal a universe unto its own.
You spend the nights soaking while gazing at the extraordinary canopy of stars, and your days melt into one another where traditional pineapple and seafood curries are hand-picked in the market. It is the sort of place where a day feels like a lifetime and you can only think of ways to return before you’ve even left.
