if a private-island elopement is your thing – and why wouldn’t it be? – then this unspoiled retreat Maldives wedding at Velaa Private island will have you taken completely, just as it did with yours truly. Located in the gorgeous Noonu Atoll, 187 kilometers north of Male, Velaa shares its name with the generations of sea turtles that have inhabited the island for countless years. Rene and Grace aimed for that sense of tranquility and privacy whether from their sun-deck ceremony and reception curated by Elie Berchan Events or taking endless strolls in the lagoon itself. The views that spread out across the Indian Ocean below the infinity pools and their turtle-shell shaped water villa kept my sensory exploration cells busy for days, and I am pretty sure these memories this bride and groom got to share with their closest will never pall.
